NYU Law Team Selected to Participate in the 2018 Jean-Pictet Competition in Ohrid, Macedonia

The NYU Law Jean-Pictet Competition Team has been selected to participate in the 2018 Jean-Pictet Competition on International Humanitarian Law to be held in Ohrid, Macedonia in March 2018.

The Jean-Pictet Competition is hosted by the International Committee of the Red Cross and is a unique opportunity to gain in-depth and hands-on knowledge of international humanitarian law while at the same time meeting students from around the world.

2018 NYU Team, 30th Edition (Ohrid, Macedonia March 24-31, 2018):

Eva Zijlstra is a Fulbright LLM candidate (Class of 2018) and cum laude graduate of Leiden University, where she specialized in international humanitarian law and human rights. She has previous volunteer experience with the Dutch Refugee Council and internship experience with the Dutch Ministry for Foreign Affairs in the Human Rights Department.

Samah Sisay is a JD Candidate (Class of 2018) and honors graduate of the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. She was an International Law and Human Rights Fellow at Defence for Children International in Sierra Leone and has experience researching issues under consideration by the United Nations Human Rights Council and Committee Against Torture. Samah is also an Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Fellow and a member of the Advanced Immigrant Rights Clinic at NYU Law.

Melina De Bona is a JD Candidate (Class of 2019) and honors graduate of the University of Chicago. She is currently an intern for the International Humanitarian Fact-Finding Commission and was a 2017-18 International Law and Human Rights Fellow at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. Melina has previously worked for the Chair of the United Nations Human Rights Committee and for the Institute of Public Policy on Human Rights for the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR).
