CHRGJ Seeking Volunteers for International Fact-Finding Conference (Nov 1,2,4)
October 16, 2013

CHRGJ is seeking volunteers to assist with our upcoming conference on International Human Rights Fact-Finding in the 21st Century, taking place at NYU School of Law, November 1st, 2nd, and 4th.

With an expected attendance of some 300 people, this conference will provide an unprecedented opportunity to meet, learn from, and network with some of the leading scholars and practitioners in human rights today. This conference will bring together international experts for a critical and constructive discussion about the key challenges and opportunities in international fact-finding, a subject that is fundamental to human rights, but has thus far received far too little scholarly attention or critical analysis. Please see https://chrgj.org/event/factfindingconference/ for more details about the conference and project.

Given that CHRGJ operates with a small staff, we are seeking volunteers to assist with aspects of the conference, including:

November 1, 2 (8 AM – 5 PM):

o   Conference registration (assist with welcoming attendees, providing them their conference packets, orienting people, etc);

o   Conference rapporteurs (note-taking of proceedings);

o   French translation services; Bahassa Indonesia translation services (translating into a microphone for participants wearing headsets);

o   General administrative support

November 4 (9 AM – 5 PM):

o   Conference rapporteurs (note-taking of proceedings)

o   French translation services; Bahassa Indonesia translation services (translating into a microphone for participants wearing headsets)

With both rapporteuring and translating, we aim to work in shifts so that volunteers can take substantial breaks.

All volunteers will be provided lunch, and invited to attend a private dinner on Friday, November 1st, featuring  a keynote talk by Ken Roth, the Executive Director of HRW.
