Prof Ryan Goodman Publishes NYTimes Op-Ed “A Blow Against Big Brother”

NEW YORK — On Wednesday, the United Nations General Assembly is expected to approve a resolution recognizing an international “right to privacy in the digital age” — a significant political development in response to the controversy over the surveillance tactics of the United States National Security Agency.

As an attempt to get governments to rein in abusive behavior, the resolution is widely viewed as a victory for that part of the political universe where liberal progressives and conservative libertarians meet. Buried in the text of the resolution, however, is a very different policy agenda, one that may surprise libertarians and delight progressives…
