Last weekend, NYU’s International Criminal Court Moot Competition team, supported by CHRGJ and the Hauser Global Fellows Program traveled to Pace University in White Plains, NY, for the national round of the annual competition, the official moot of the ICC. This year’s case considered issues of the court’s territorial jurisdiction, the applicability of war crimes and crimes against humanity to non-state actors, and the issue of perceived judicial bias, among others.
We are very pleased to announce that the team reached the finals of the competition for the second time in three years, ultimately finishing third in the country. The team consisted of Celine Braumann (LLM), who won Best Oralist and Runner-up Best Written Memorial in the role of Prosecutor; Maanya Tandon (LLM) who won Runner-up Best Written Memorial in the role of Legal Representative for the Victims; and Saif Ansari (JD ’16). The team was coached by Danny Auron and former mooter and International Law and Human Rights Fellow, and Bianca Isaias (JD ’15).
Congratulations to the team on their success!
