Information Session: October 19, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Applications Due: November 9, 12 pm

Applications for the 2016-2017 International Law and Human Rights Fellowship Program are now available online. CHRGJ coordinates the ILHR Fellowship Program with the Institute for International Law and Justice and the support of the Public Interest Law Center. Join us for a lunch information session and orientation on Wednesday, October 19 at 1:00-2:00 pm in Furman 214. Former ILHR fellows will share their experiences and answer your questions. Please RSVP.

The ILHR Fellowship Program consists of three main components: (1) a 10-12 week internship at an organization working in human rights or international law, usually in the summer, although graduating LLMs and JSDs may in some cases elect to complete it in the fall; (2) pre-internship specialized training in the form of required coursework and 2-4 seminars in the spring; and (3) a post-internship academic research paper under the supervision of NYU faculty or staff.

All current full-time 1L, 2L, LLM and JSD students are eligible to apply.

Host internship organizations include international tribunals; UN and regional organizations; and NGOs in locations as diverse as Beijing, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Jerusalem, Johannesburg, Kampala, London, New Delhi, New York, Ramallah, Washington, D.C., and Windhoek. See this year’s list of sponsoring organizations.

Students selected for the ILHR Fellowship will receive a stipend of $4,500 (for 1Ls) or $6,500 (for 2Ls, LLMs and JSDs).

Applications are due by Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 12pm (noon). They should include statement/s of interest (one per placement applied for), CV, transcripts, and list of NYU law courses. Please submit the application package by e-mail in a single document as a PDF file to
