Philip Alston to Speak at ASIL Annual Meeting in DC

CHRGJ Co-Chair and Faculty Director Philip Alston will be speaking at two events during this year’s Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law (ASIL), held from April 12 to April 15, 2017 in Washington, D.C. As part of the Hudson Medal Luncheon, Professor Alston will appear alongside honoree Georges Abi-Saab of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. He will also form part of the closing plenary’s panel discussion hosted by the City of the Hague and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Washington, D.C. Other panelists include Maurice Kamto, member of the Curatorium of the Hague Academy of International Law, Yaoundé II University and member of the International Law Commission of the United Nations; Bruno Simma, Iran-United States Claims Tribunal, University of Michigan Law School and former judge at the International Court of Justice; and Baroness Christine van den Wyngaert, judge at the International Criminal Court and former judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. The panel will be followed by a presentation from the City of The Hague to former Nuremberg prosecutor Benjamin Ferencz and will conclude with an informal lunch reception.
