The Center for Human Rights and Global Justice is pleased to announce that two of its students—Genesis Davila and Stephanie Williams—received the Arthur Helton Global Human Rights Fellowship for 2022-2023.
Created in 2008, the Helton Fellowship supports one or more graduating students annually who have demonstrated a commitment to pursuing a career in international human rights law, and who have designed sound proposals for work at a host organization that they have chosen. Students are invited to design projects to put their legal education to work on timely issues in countries where their efforts are most needed and where there are insufficient resources for human rights protection.
Genesis Davila ‘22 will start her Helton Fellowship in fall 2022 at where she will document, investigate, and raise awareness on crimes of gender-based sexual violence in Venezuela.
During her time at NYU Law, Genesis was a Transitional Justice Scholar and an International Law and Human Rights Fellow with the UN Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict.
Stephanie Williams ‘22 will start her Helton Fellowship, the details of which are still being confirmed, in fall 2022. During her time at NYU Law, Stephanie was a Human Rights Student Scholar with the Prevention Project, a two-time International Law and Human Rights Fellow with the UN Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict and the International Mechanism for Myanmar, and served as a 1L researcher on NYU’s ICC Moot Court Competition team.
Congratulations to both Stephanie and Genesis!
