6:00pm - 8:00pm    |    Vanderbilt Hall 210, NYU School of Law

Join the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice for a conversation on human right investigations with the United Nations’ experts on food, culture, and water.  How do UN experts measure economic, cultural, and social rights violations?  What are the key obstacles to effective investigations? What is the future of measuring access to basic human rights?

The conversation will be hosted by Professor Philip Alston (Former UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions), and marks the launch of CHRGJ’s 2012-2014 initiative on human rights fact-finding, methods, and evidence.

The event features

  • Ms. Catarina de Albequerque (UN Special Rapporteur on the human right to safe drinking water and sanitation);
  • Mr. Olivier De Schutter (UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food); and
  • Ms. Farida Shaheed (UN Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights)
