This event is co-sponsored with the Robert L. Bernstein Institute for Human Rights.

Join us for a conversation with Renata Trajano and Raull Santiago, human rights activists, media makers, and residents of the Complexo do Alemão favelas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Renata and Raull will talk about their work in Coletivo Papo Reto (Straight Talk Collective), a network of young activists that uses social media to tell their own stories, counter stereotypes, and hold accountable police and other authorities for violations in their communities.

Priscila Neri from Witness will discuss the organization’s support of human rights defenders through the teaching of basics of video production, safe and ethical filming techniques, and advocacy strategies.
