Over 400,000 people currently live in the United States with Temporary Protected Status. The Trump Administration recently announced its decision to terminate TPS designations for El Salvador, Haiti, and Nicaragua, upending the lives of hundreds of thousands of individuals. The Administration recently extended TPS for Syria, but did not re-designate Syria for TPS, meaning that Syrians who have fled the war in recent years are not eligible to register. The Administration will soon announce decisions on whether to terminate or extend the TPS designations for Nepal, Honduras, Yemen, Somalia, and South Sudan.
Join us to discuss the implications of the Administration’s decisions and to learn more about TPS’s current status, options for current TPS recipients, and resources available to the NYU community.
