Juliana v. United States

Part of CLX’s mission is to amplify the impact of legal concepts and tools that empower litigators and practitioners around the world to challenge inaction on climate change. As part of this, CLX has supported litigation as an amicus curiae and, in this role, has pushed for the recognition of legal theories, doctrines, and methodologies that strengthen the ability to hold governments and corporations accountable for climate harms through the judicial system. CLX has, for example, participated as an amicus curiae, along with the Global Justice Clinic, in the watershed Juliana case, where youth petitioners argued that the U.S. government violated their constitutional rights by contributing to the climate crisis and failing to take sufficiently ambitious action to stem it.
