Sarah Banton
Transitional Justice Scholar

Sarah Katrina Banton holds a Bachelor of Laws from UCL and is currently pursuing the LLM in International Legal Studies at NYU. Having grown up in Singapore and the Philippines, Sarah is interested in how transitional justice can operate as an accountability mechanism for governments in Southeast Asia, as well as how human rights abuses can be prevented. Her interest in international law and human rights stems from competing in international moots, where she won two Best Oralist awards, and the invaluable mentorship she has received from the faculty at UCL. As a Singapore government scholarship holder, Sarah will return to Singapore to practice as a criminal prosecutor with the Attorney-General’s Chambers, with a view to later enter in the international human rights sphere as a government lawyer or academic.
