Shruti Kannan
Human Rights Scholar

Shruti is a second year JD at NYU. As a Human Rights Scholar, she works with Professor Margaret Satterthwaite on the Human Rights Resilience Project. She graduated with honors from Scripps College, earning a BA in Neuroscience with a minor in Creative Writing. While at Scripps, she was director of a psychology laboratory and president of the on-campus anti-sexual violence advocates group. She has worked with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence for almost a decade.


Shruti spent her first summer advocating for low income women at Public Counsel, the nation’s largest pro bono law firm, on the Women’s and Girls’ Rights Project. Prior to law school, she worked across the globe in the technology industry on corporate diversity & inclusion, spending most of her time in Latin America.
